Frances Cabrini (Mother Cabrini), an Italian immigrant and Catholic missionary who arrives in New York City in 1889 and is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children.
Mother Cabrini founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSSH). She died aged 67 in 1917 and was canonized in 1946, making her the first American saint (the patron saint of immigrants), with her order spread over all the world.
