The early years were as the "Hawks", backing band for rockabilly cult hero Ronnie Hawkins. The Bob Dylan hired them and they became "THE BAND" when they were with Dylan. The Band's music went back to the roots of American music - a mixture of old time country, folk, r&b, blues, gospel, jazz and rock 'n' roll.

The Band call it quits with a lavish farewell show at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom on Nov. 25, 1976. Filmed by Martin Scorsese, this documentary features standout performances by rock legends such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris and Muddy Waters ... the guest list reads like a "Who's Who" in music of that era.
