Amazing Grace the album came out late in 1972 after Aretha Franklin's memorable performance of gospel songs at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles in that year. That double-set became Franklin’s biggest-selling album, as well as the top-grossing gospel collection of all time. Meanwhile, the film of the same name lay uncompleted in the vaults for another 38 years, until it was finally completed by the producer Alan Elliott in 2018 and it was approved for release several months after the star's death.   

Brilliantly capturing a remarkable performer near the peak of her prodigious power,  and at her most vulnerable, singing praise to the heavens.
