A pair of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighters from the far north town of Kaikohe battle it out in the ring; but in this gym the battle isn’t just about the glory and grit, it’s about forging a path forward. At a community gym. seasoned international pro Dhcamad Armstrong wants to bring championship belts back to his hometown, and ex gang enforcer Dave finds discipline in the sport to help change old habits. Together the pair mentor a new generation through the guts of the game to find purpose, both in and out of the ring.
Director Simon Ogston will attend the screening and speak at the start of the movie. He spent three years working on the film, and knows the town and the people well.
