A biographical drama musical film based on the life of reggae singer and songwriter Bob Marley, played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, from his rise to fame in the mid-1970s up until his death in 1981.

ONE LOVE celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity.

1976 to 1978 was a period of fierce political divisions in Jamaica. The country had been independent since 1962, but during this tense time, violence regularly broke out amont the supporters of the People's National Party and the Jamaica Labor Party.  TIME described Marley’s influence in 1976, “Marley is Jamaica's superstar. He rivals the government as a political force.”  Marley and many of the island’s musicians adhered to Rastafarianism, which was both a political movement  and a religion. Reggae music is deeply linked to Rastafari, and Bob Marley was one of the pioneers of the genre.
