One of the great ‘Opera Buffa’ operas - street-smart servants & members of the lower-class, and blundering, pompous aristocrats.  Mozart poking fun at the aristocracy.  

An opera in four acts, composed in 1786 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with an Italian libretto written by Lorenzo Da Ponte.   It tells how the servants Figaro and Suzanna succeed in getting married, foiling the efforts of their philandering employer Count Almaviva to seduce Susanna and teaching him a lesson in fidelity.  

The film is the first of six operas being screened at 3pm on the second Sunday of the months April through to October, as part of the 2024 Mangawhai Opera Lovers Film Festival.

Join us for a glass of bubbles and canapes at 2.45pm. 

There will be a short introduction to the film at the Mangawhai Opera Lovers Film Festival (5-10 minutes at 3pm) before the film is screened. A short, written synopsis of the opera will be provided.

Ticket price is $15, or $72 for the full season of six operas and two documentaries.
