With Anna Caterine Antonacci and Jonas Kaufmann bringing rare erotic intensity to the drama of Carmen and Don Jose, this Royal Opera production is a passionate reading of one of the world’s favourite operas. 

Under the baton of Music Director Antonio Pappano, Bizet’s irresistible score drives the tragedy forward - powering a landmark staging of a musical masterpiece.

The film is the third of six operas being screened at 3pm on the second Sunday of each month - April to September, as part of the 2024 Mangawhai Opera Lovers Film Festival. Join us for a glass of bubbles and canapes at 2.45pm.

There will be a short introduction to the film at the Mangawhai Opera Lovers Film Festival (5-10

minutes at 3pm) before the film is screened. A short, written synopsis of the opera will be provided.

Note the start time is 3pm (1500), not 4pm. Ticket price is $15.
