Rose-Lynn is a woman on a quest to become a country music star, while also grappling with the responsibilities of being recently released from prison and a young mother of two children.
As Rose-Lynn, Jessie Buckley catches her character perfectly, and she does all the singing in Wild Rose, and it is beyond terrific. Julie Walters co-stars in one of her best roles in years, as Rose's hard-bitten mum, with scant respect for any woman who will walk out on her own kids to follow any dream.
